Why Fusion Broadband and IBM Cloud?

As business is fast becoming more global and change is occurring at an ever-increasing rate, business networks need to be able to support the dynamic change and growth, while being cost effective, carrier agnostic and flexible; all of which MPLS or carrier provided private networks are not.

Fusion Broadband has been providing carrier agnostic bandwidth aggregation and SD-WAN services throughout Australia and globally for many years. In fact, more MSPs in Australia use Fusion Broadband’s SD-WAN platform as their go to SD-WAN solution than any other provider.

This capability is now fully available for businesses and MSPs to build their own SD-WAN networks leveraging IBM Cloud. IBM Cloud (formally SoftLayer Technologies) is the gold standard in IAAS, with over 60 global locations, extremely high-performance server environments and supporting networks. Fusion Broadband customers can build a global SD-WAN network to support their distributed offices locally or around the globe, all built leveraging IBM Cloud.

Components

Fusion SD-WAN built on IBM Cloud gives you instant access to deploy your own PoP (point of presence) or leverage Fusion Broadband managed pops, providing low latency and high-performance access to the internet which is easy and fast to deploy.

Three easy elements make up the Fusion SD-WAN:

  • SD-WAN core deployed in each required IBM Cloud PoP  (HA – High Availability options available) – or Leverage Fusions own global network
  • SD-WAN node for each location
  • SD-WAN node monthly license

Case Study

A global business has a number of sites in Australia, SE Asia, USA and central Europe. A Fusion SD-WAN core is deployed in each region allowing low latency high speed connectivity to their SD-WAN mesh from all of the global sites.

Leveraging Fusions SD-WAN in IBM Cloud. Four PoPs are provisioned with an HA PoP deployed in Australia.

Each Site has dual access to their SD-WAN core with some sites running active and failover links and others running dual active links leveraging our highly efficient bandwidth aggregation process.

Internet Gateways are regional and pass through regional hosted Firewalls also located within IBM Cloud.

Each site has the benefit of customisable QoS, Bandwidth aggregation/Bonding of disparate links, 100% carrier independence and technology independent application steering out specific connections.

Highly efficient bandwidth aggregation, link failover within 300ms, and bandwidth adaptation will ensure that each site maintains a low latency and low packet loss connection despite network load, ensuring applications are always performing at their best.

In the event of a PoP failure, if a HA core is not provisioned, the network will maintain full connectivity via one of the other regional PoPs, providing a highly redundant global SD-WAN built on IBM Cloud’s Superior IAAS infrastructure.

Fusion Broadband’s platform gives you visibility, control and management of all your internet links from one central control portal.

Integrating multiple access technologies, whether DSL, 4G/3G, MPLS, Satellite or others, Fusion SD-WAN can transition traffic between all available connections seamlessly, maintaining voice calls, HTTPS sessions, RDP connections or any other internet traffic that is in progress.

All of this gives you the ability to aggregate bandwidth from diverse links and technologies, providing untraceable failover and site to site private networks whilst selecting the most appropriate path for different traffic types.

Sold as an ‘as a service’ model, delivery is rapid and affordable with hardware provided by Fusion Broadband or as virtual machines on the client’s own infrastructure.

The IBM Advantage

With IBM Cloud you can buy your core network to the size and bandwidth you require and easily scale up or down at any time.

With Fusion Broadband’s IBM Cloud SD-WAN solution, customers are able to leverage the gold star network and platform of IBM Cloud. Fusion Broadband customers and partners are able to quickly deploy their own SD-WAN PoPs (Points of Presence) in over 60 locations globally. From Sydney to North American, to Mexico, France, South America, India, etc. Build your own global SD-WAN instantly with internet entry and exit points in over 60 global locations.

Building an SD-WAN around this infrastructure gives you the advantage of the best cloud core service coupled with the market leader in SD-WAN platforms.

Bring your branch sites into the SD-WAN using Fusion Broadband’s SD-WAN nodes.
